Veggie Burgers: Meatless Monday

It has been a hectic couple weeks and I do apologize for my silence. As I said, it has been a hectic couple weeks filled with hours toiling in the kitchen, both at home and at work so I thought I would share one of the  recipes I tried out this holiday because no matter how busy life gets ... 'people gotta eat'!

These veggie burgers are high in protein, and super tasty( according to my family, but you know how family can be biased)! Oh, and did I mention they contain no meat?

Ingredients

  • 1 can of white kidney beans( drained)
  • 2 cups of cooked brown lentils( you can just boil these before you prepare your burgers, but make sure they retain some moisture)
  • 1/2 diced onion
  • 1 grated carrot
  • 1/8 cup of white flour
  • a pinch of salt
  • Olive oil
  • Mixture of different herbs and spices
Method

  • Using a wooden spoon mash the kidney beans, onions, carrots, herbs and spices into a large bowl until it gets mushy
  • Measure out your 1/8 cup of flour and sift it into the patty mix
  • Continue to mash the mixture
  • Shape the mixture into patties.
  • Optional: You may lightly coat the patties with flour, for a more crispier patty
  • Heat 2tbs of olive oil in a large pan
  • Fry patties for  3 minutes on each side, or until you are happy with them
  • Serve the patties on a burger roll with additions of your choice
  • Enjoy!
I hope you enjoy this recipe!

Popcorn Bites: Ted (2012)

Directed by: Seth MacFarlane
Starring: Mark Wahlberg, Mila Kunis and Seth MacFarlane
Genre: Comedy, Fantasy
IMBD Synopsis: As the result of a childhood wish, John Bennett's teddy bear, Ted, came to life and has been by John's side ever since - a friendship that's tested when Lori, John's girlfriend of four years, wants more from their relationship.
My Rating: 7/10
My Comment: This is the type of comedy that I enjoy: Random and Weird. Not a movie for kids though, it will put them off teddy bears for life. Suprisingly I did enjoy it but there were some incredibly awkward moments. The ending was really cute though. This is a movie that you should see with your friends.

Fit Thursday: Insanity Review

Urg. Is one word to describe this programme. Every morning I would wake up dreading  my workout. And that is not like me at all. I've tried three times to get through this programme but cannot make it past month one. This programme is all about the cardio which i don't mind but even the warm up tires me out. If there were days for just resistance training then I would've made it through. There is one cardio recovery day which is a god send but its basically just stretching. Even the Cardio Power and Resistance does not feel like strength training.

Popcorn bites: Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close (2011) *Minor Spoilers *

Directed by: Stephen Daldry
Starring: Thomas Horn, Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock
Genre: Adventure, Drama, Mystery
IMBD Synopsis: A nine-year-old amateur inventor, Francophile, and pacifist searches New York City for the lock that matches a mysterious key left behind by his father, who died in the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.
My Rating: 9/10
My Comment: This movie was heartfelt and cosy, a little bit depressing as well but in a good way. I feel that the casting for this movie was spot on. Sandra Bullock did an amazing job, and i didnt even recognize her at first. I cried a lot in this movie, the part where Tom Hank's character phones he's wife (Sandra Bullock) from the Twin Towers gave me goosepimples. I must admit that some of the flashbacks were quite confusing and i ddint know whether it was in the past or present. Overall it was a great movie, if you feel like a good cry festival then get it now .
