Easy " Anything-Goes" Scrambled Eggs

In my opinion, a Sunday breakfast is not complete without a scrumptious batch of scrambled eggs. Why eat plain scrambled eggs, when you can add so much color to them with an assortment of veggies and practically anything you find in the kitchen?

Here is one of the simple dishes I cooked up last week for my family. Feel free to substitute anything else you might want to include in this dish!

Ingredients

- 5 Large eggs
-1/2 cup of milk
- 1 cup of different vegetables and fruit( for this meal I used onions, apples, tomatoes and green beans)
- handful of grated cheese
- Olive oil/ Sunflower oil

Method

- In a clean bowl beat together the eggs and milk. Add your seasoning of choice
- Heat oil in a large frying pan over a medium-heat stove and saute the vegetables/ fruit until soft
- Add the egg mixture to the pan and fry the eggs
- When the eggs are cooked, sprinkle the grated cheese
- Serve with a slice of whole-wheat toast

Fit Thursday: Why I don't run

Starting weight:

63.2 kg (Weight)
28.2 % (Body Fat)
49.3 % (Hydration)
35.6% (Muscle Tone)

This week's weigh-in:

62.7 kg (Weight) = 0.5 kg lost total
28.2 % (Body Fat)
49.3 % (Hydration)
35.6% (Muscle Tone)

Why I don't run

Many people will tell me: "Go for a run, you'll feel so much better''. Well let me tell you this.... I tried to run once and I didn't get the same high as most people do. Instead it makes me feel faint, red in the face, out of breath and sick to my stomach. If running is not your thing but you are looking for other cardio workouts that  will also clear your head. Try anyone of these:

  • High intensity interval training
  • Kickboxing
  • Walking
  • Zumba or other dancing
  • Spin class or cycling
  • Swimming
Try to mix things up as well. I have never gotten an injury from exercising. And that's because I am continuously doing something different each day. Even the workout programs I am reviewing have this same mentality.

Simple Ways to Stay Healthy in Varsity

Use the damn stairs!
Especially if you are going up one floor! I mean, seriously? Do not use the elevator to go from level 3 to 4. You are bound to get mean stares from a few agitated students.

And besides,  if you attend a large university, like the one I do, you will find that using the stairs might get you to your destination in a fraction of the time.

Use the longer route
If you have time use the longer route to your class. Not only will you get to experience the fresh air, you can also burn a couple calories.

Step away from the canteen... step away
Head on to the library instead.

Head on to the library
I've noticed that when I am super busy... I tend to eat less. Mostly because sometimes we eat out of boredom. But what better way to discourage yourself from eating than heading to the library? Besides, you are not allowed to eat in the library;)

Join a sport or the local gym
Not only can you stay fit by participating in sport or joining the local campus gym, you can also socialize and get a breather from the books.

Pack your own lunch
Just because you are no longer in school, does not mean you cannot still pack a neat set of peanut butter sandwiches wrapped in cling wrap. When you having the munchies, it may be difficult to find a healthy snack on campus. Although some do stock apples! Yes, they actually sell fruit at the kiosk at my school! SCORE!

Drink water
This is a no-brainer. As you know, water is healthy and it should curb your hunger. So stay away from the sodas, the calorie-laden coffee milkshakes and ice teas...  drink some water instead.
The best part of it: it is free.

Peace and love

Fit Thursday: Tattoo healing, fitness slump and reunion weight loss challenge

Welcome back to fit Thursday everyone!! : D

It has been a couple of weeks now, since I got my tattoo but since I started exercising again last week I've just been unmotivated. And since I'm getting my touch up done this weekend I decided that it is time for NO MORE EXCUSES and just do lower body work while I wait for it to heal this time.

I have also set out a challenge for myself to loose some weight for my High School Reunion happening the 13th July (a day before my birthday). I haven't made a goal as to how much weight I exactly want to loose but I do want to loose some body weight. Every Friday I'll post my numbers to show you how I am doing.

Enjoy your weekend and keep moving!!

My first tattoo experience

My First tattoo experience!! (Let it be with a feather quill on my left back shoulder)

On Friday the 16th February 2013 I checked off an Item in my bucket list, and that was to get a tattoo.
Deciding on my tattoo
My first tattoo idea was getting a small bow on my ankle but then I decided against it because I didn't want to get tired of it and regret it later. I then decided on getting the quote: "Nothing is impossible, the word itself says 'I'm possible" on my foot. But then people like my boyfriend and he's best friend said "try stapling water to a tree, that is pretty impossible''. So then I thought, well that fucking ruined it. Then I was listening to the song: "Let it be" by the Beatles and a light bulb went off...
The meaning
The words "Let it be" symbolise my favourite song and to just go with the flow and don't stress about the little things. The feather quill symbolises luck and creativity. It also symbolises my nickname ''Heather Feather'' and my love of royal history (the time before computers).
The experience
To be honest I felt no pain while getting the tattoo. It just felt like my cat was repeatedly scratching me (when she is in a good mood ;) ). The lady was distracting me most of the time and spoke to me and constantly asked me if I'm feeling ok. On a scale of 1-5 the pain was 1.5.
The healing process
This is probably worse than getting the actual tattoo done. I am on day 8 and the tattoo is starting to peel and it looks so gross! During days 4-7 the tattoo was scabbing, which also freaked me out and I was afraid that it would ruin my tattoo. I apply bepanthen (three times a day then after 10 days I can stop using it and carry on using my unscented body lotion to keep it moisturised. I also was it with anit-bacterial soap twice a day. In two months the tattoo artist said that I can go back for a free touch up.
I love my tattoo and the way it came out was even better than I pictured it to be. I will never regret it! I am already planning my second
